 Hello everybody,

This is our first e-newsletter for 2009-10. We wish you the very best for the new financial year and happy reading.

INDIAN ACHIEVEMENTS

ISRO hit the moon with a tiny budget of US $ 75 million for the programme. This was to be expected from this high performing institution of excellence which has always delivered and made every Indian proud.

                                                 Chandrayaan Congratulations

The  real  surprise  came  from  DRDO which produced the Brahmos II. The supersonic missile hit a small square of aluminium placed 50 km away as a target by the Army.

                                                  Congratulations India

The credit goes to Mr. A. Sivathanu Pillai, the team leader at DRDO who refused to lose heart against early failures of the Brahmos. This is the fastest cruise missile in the world. The name Brahmos is a combine of India’s Brahmaputra and Russia’s Moskva rivers.

2008-09 – A YEAR OF TURBULENCE

For us in the welding industry, the IS 2879 low carbon EWNR wire rod prices jumped from Rs.25,000 to Rs.46,000 per MT. Unbelievable but true. A near similar fate for other steel sections caused  enormous costing problems for all projects. Work stopped as companies rushed to negotiate escalations from customers.

The Global meltdown came in October. Flls withdrew their portfolios and the Sensex crashed. Banks stopped lending , steel prices dipped. Work stopped again as companies gasped for breath and waited for demand and cash flows to pick up.

 FUSION’S PERFORMANCE

In spite of these negatives and the resultant fall in Project activity Fusion increased annual sales by over 12% from 2007-08.

Profitability   was   less   as   we   could   not  always  pass  on  the astronomical raw material price hikes to customers.
 FUSION'S PRODUCT QUALITY

It is an irrefutable fact that every single electrode of Fusion is of the highest quality. Customers have raved about Fusion’s E 309 Mo stainless steel electrode and the very special E 11018 M low hydrogen electrode used for Pennstock Pipe welding in hydel projects.

However, in  the   everyday  project applications in the Steel, Power, Oil and  Shipbuilding   sectors,  two of Fusion’s  regular   usage  electrodes are  finally  getting  full recognition for what they really are - the no.I. in their category in India.

Yes, Fusion’s Electra 9, E 6013 (radiographic) electrode and Basicote 6, E 7018 (low hydrogen) electrode are now better performers than all the competitors’ brands in India.

We   thank  our  premium  customers  for  confirming  this Fact repeatedly.

Thanking you for your kind support.
Yours sincerely
